Venice wine tour: from the hinterland to city centre

Most of the cellars are located in the hinterland of Venice province. Therefore, an ideal Venice wine tour is the one that takes you to discover the cellars and the vineyards.

These are the right places where to talk directly with the winemaker, ask them questions about the cultivation, taste the wines, and above all get to know the lifestyle of the Venetian countryside.

This type of Venetian wine tour requires a long vacation. More than one day off is necessary to discover the countryside and its traditions, especially if they regard wine.

If you have a few days more to spend, you can contact the wineries independently. They usually are open to guests and visitors.

Alternatively, you can have a Venice wine tour in the city centre, taking part to an organized walking tour guided by an expert sommelier. Of course, finding cellars next to Piazza San Marco is not possible.

However, you can taste the traditional wines in the typical venues of Venice, the baccara. Bakari is the name the Venetians give to little venues equipped with a large assortment of wines from the region.
